If you have been advised to undergo an endoscopy or you are considering one, you might consider the levels of service we offer as follows:
| Platinum – our premium-level service |
We will see patients for a 30-minute consultation prior to the procedure. The procedure will be carried out as a day case and patients will have their own room with satellite television, a choice of newspapers or magazines, and a range of food and drink. The procedure itself will be carried out by one of our Consultants and you will be able to choose which consultant you wish to do it. You can also choose whether to have the procedure under sedation or not - many patients need little or no sedation although many wish to have less awareness of the procedure. Where needed we use highly-qualified anaesthetists to ensure the best patient experience.
Patients electing for sedation will often have little or no memory of the procedure but will be drowsy for a few hours afterwards and may feel some effect of the sedation for a day or so. Patients not having sedation will experience a slight discomfort as the procedure is done but the test often only lasts for a few minutes and they can then discuss the findings with the consultant before going home soon after the procedure.
All patients will be offered a 15-minute consultation to discuss the findings of the endoscopy, which will be usually be held 1-2 weeks later to allow time for the processing of any samples taken during the procedure. (If no biopsies are needed and the patients are not sedated for the test then the results can be discussed on the same day as the procedure.) |
| Gold – a quality private care service |
We are able to provide this quality service through innovative methods of information gathering and analysis, which allow for less time asking standard questions and more time answering your questions.
We will offer patients an appointment in a dedicated clinic. Patients will be asked to complete a detailed and entirely confidential questionnaire about their condition prior to the consultation. In some cases we may ask your GP to carry out some further tests before the consultation. One of our Consultants will then see the patient for a 10-15 minute consultation. If an endoscopy procedure is appropriate the Consultant will arrange this test, which the Consultant will carry out. Following the procedure, you will either see a Consultant or a specialist nurse to continue with the management plan of the treatment. |
| Silver – our service for a specific procedure |
We have designed this service for those who require a particular test or procedure.
Patients will need to be assessed and if in good health can benefit from an open access service for direct endoscopy, scanning and other investigations. Alternatively we can offer the service to those already on a waiting list for a procedure, at an NHS Hospital or other provider, but who prefer an earlier appointment, one at a more flexible time or one in a more relaxed environment. |
| Amber – our direct consultation service |
This is fast and effective consultation service providing virtually instant reports for patients seeking advice and guidance rather than full investigation and treatment. Patients will be asked to complete a health questionnaire, either on-line or in our comfortable premises. A Consultant will then review the report with the patient and deliver a comprehensive assessment and report to help the person gain access to health care in the NHS or from another provider. This service is appropriate for those unsure of the service they might need and for those seeking a second opinion on their condition. |
